An aspect of disabilities our culture still struggles with is that a medical intervention can improve quality of life. By no means am I advocating for unnecessary interventions, but the right interventions tailored to the person can be life changing.

This is a great question! I am still able to eat food by mouth even though I have a feeding tube. Everybody with a tube is different, but I get ~50% of my calories eating by mouth and ~50% through tube feeds!
