Made it to #cleethorpes and after checking into my hotel my 1st port of call was the #beachhuts. Last saw these in 2002 and was very excited to find their essential #1950s styling still preserved. Love those steep diagonal railings, so #FestivalofBritain

For the 1951 Festival Gardens at Battersea, Guinness commissioned the Lewitt-Him partnership to design a 25ft high clock. It was so popular that 8 travelling clocks were made which toured the country until 1966. Here they are at #GreatYarmouth #Torquay and #Morecambe.

From 1956 the architect for #Blackpool Pleasure Beach was Jack Ratcliff of Howard V Lobb & Partners. He'd worked at the #FestivalofBritain & designed the British Pavilion at Brussels Expo 1958 (below). At Blackpool he built the perspex Astrodome and the complex angled roof of the Derby Racer
