This is the best armour I ever did. Thanks to the #festivetankchallenge2025 I took 10 days to do one tank right, experimenting with chipping, highlighting and mud, instead of the usual rush job. So this is the first time I felt that I could actually join in the fun of dropping armour
#FestiveTankChallenge2025 mission creep. I lay the blame solely @tomjmegan.bsky.social 's feet...

Willing to call #FestiveTankChallenge2025 a success! A platoon of 5 Shermans complete for Flames of War in the colors of Saunders University High School from Girls Und Panzer. With magnitized turrets I can run them as 75 or 76mm variants. #FestiveTankChallenge #GirlsUndPanzer
I’m very happy with my #FestiveTankChallenge2025 Sherman. It’s lighter than the Stuart that I made earlier using the same rattle can method, which is probably due to the wash I used. Yesterday I went through my stock of 1/35th scale Sherman pile and decided that being retired now I should make them.
AS FORETOLD (by me), I have failed the #FestiveTankChallenge2025. That's what I get for mucking about with photo-etch. 🤪 Fear not - I am not giving up on this project. 😀

Well no surprise to anyone who knows me (including myself) that this didn't get finished in time.
Sherman II in desert pink from the Tasca kit. Still loads to do but an enjoyable process.

An Irish Guards Sherman V tank, painted and with muddy tracks.
Worst Decal Job in the History of Decal Jobs on the turret squadron marking, so I got the brush and did my take on "St Patrick's blue" to make it an Irish Guards Sherman V for @tomjmegan.bsky.social 's Festive Tank Challenge.

Well, there it is: a Sherman V in 1:56 scale with the mud added. A bit too much mud perhaps, but I learned and applied a few new weathering tricks. So a #festivetankchallenge2025 well spent. Thanks for organising, Tom!
#FestiveTankChallenge2025 this is finished except for the Matt coating. This will probably make it semi gloss for a few days so am taking photos before hand.
The not so #Festivetankchallenge2025. With the Desert tanks done attention switches to the clingons and a coat of Olive Drab followed by faded OD on the upper surfaces. Varnish added ahead of pin washing. #spreadthelard
Gonna be cutting it close as we come down to the wire for #FestiveTankChallenge2025. Somehow had the smoothest decal application I’ve ever had in my entire life. Just a wash, drybrush and some weathering left. #FestiveTankChallenge
And thats a wrap on the #Festivetankchallenge2025. 3x M4A2 Sherman III for the late Desert/Tunisia campaigns.

The final hop made and although I didn't fully complete the vehicle as depicted in the photo it's not far off. Happy New Year to all and thanks again to Tom for setting this up!

As I am moving out of my comfort zone by using pigments for mud and dust. First a test model before I muck up the Sherman. #festivetankchallenge2025 will go to the last day!

Actual festiveness has somewhat interfered with my #FestiveTankChallenge2025
But I'm nearly ready to stick the two halves together!

Five partially painted 28mm WWII tanks and armoured vehicles: an M8 Greyhound armoured car, two Sherman tanks - olive green colour - together with a German Tiger 1 and StuG G "assault gun", painted in a sandy brown yellow with a muddy dark brown wash.
Some recent assembly and daubage of the WWII armoured variety: @warlordgames.com Sherman V, Firefly, M8 Greyhound, StuG G and a resin Tiger. These have been fun to do and are the first five armoured vehicles I've ever attempted.

#FestiveTankChallenge2025 making lots of progress now.
More progress in particular on the stowage.
#FestiveTankChallenge2025
#Festivetankchallenge2025 Progress, varnish, pin washes, markings. Just some weathering, shading and highlights to do. Also did the preshade/highlight on the OD bound versions. #spreadthelard
Googled what to use as tow cable... picture hanging wire! So that puts the final detail to the 1:35 Israeli Super Sherman model.
Couldn't officially call this a #festivetankchallenge2025 build as would never have found the spare time within the start/finish dates. Glad I got sort of involved.

#FestiveTankChallenge2025 I have the base colour down now.
Today I added decals and some chipping. And I got to work on the crew. When the crew is done, all that remains is the mud stage. Never done that before but I felt it would put the festive into the #festivetankchallenge2025. Even bought a bottle of mud and some tools. Now off to watch videos
#FestiveTankChallenge2025 complete! I've absolutely loved building and painting this tank and I'm very chuffed with how it's turned out. Huge thanks again to @sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social for his YouTube tutorial and to @tomjmegan.bsky.social for setting up this annual event.
Two plastic model Sherman tanks, with a coat of greenish khaki on a messy painting table.
Progress on the Firefly and Sherman V. Or something.
First coat - mix of Vallejo Model Colour Olive Grey and Russian Uniform, as per John Bond's method.
And now......I have to go and do non-hobby things 😐

Solid progress! Carpal tunnel tough, but you're making great strides. Love the kangaroo plan for #Festivetankchallenge2025!
Ive had these bits in the drawer for a while waiting for inspiration to build it. Going for a Fury diorama. Will post some progress photos whwn I finish my nightshift in the morning.
