This weekend I completed the finishing touches to my Panzer IV H, for @tomjmegan.bsky.social’s #FestiveTankChallenge24. Great to be involved.
Not sure what happened with this one, but it’s done. Maybe a coat of whitewash to hide the many defects. Big thank you to @tomjmegan.bsky.social for organising the #festivetankchallenge24.
Now that the #FestiveTankChallenge24 is over I’m back to concentrating on the Allied armour. These Battlefront Sherman from the “Hit the Beach” box are a quick & easy build but they need a little pimping with stowage to get the best from them. Aiming to get 4 knocked out this week #15mm #IABSM #BKC
Not much in the way of updates for this year’s #FestiveTankChallenge but it’s been a busy old Christmas; frankly I’m glad to have got across the line at all. A trio of lovely #Battlefront @Flames_Of_War IVs completed, it’s been fun! See you all next year?

I’m building an Ausf. H, which means schürzen on turret and sides.
I really wasn’t looking forward to this part but both proved fiddly rather than fatal.
Traditionally the white wash turned out better on my test model.
Here likely the white paint layer was too thick. Not too bad, but will take time to fix.
I will probably be finishing the model after the deadline. Good luck everyone!

The last one of my Pz IV’s of the #FestiveTankChallenge24 has had its’s basic camo applied and is ready for drybrushing, “dotting”, and washing tomorrow so it looks a little more like the rest of it’s troop #15mm #IABSM #FlamesofWar #BKC #FallenAngel
I was following a tutorial and used a piece of foam to apply the camo but that clearly was not for this scale. Added a wash and now drying so I can continue tomorrow. Not so pleased with the result but I can always restart after the 31st. #airfix #FestiveTankChallenge #FestiveTankChallenge24
A model of a Panzer IV bravely navigating my tray and crossing the cable snippers I use while aiming its turret backwards. The tracks are on, most of it is painted, there are machine guns attached, it looks like a mostly complete tank.
Got the tracks on (knock on wood), attached the MGs. There's the schürzen and some hull details left, and also fiddly work like markings to do. But it feels doable.
I also wanna try and drill the cannon barrel.

Update for #FestiveTankChallenge24: got my basecoat and initial wash done. Just finished a dry brush over it. Next up will be some different contrast and speed paints to bring out details. Might pop down to the hobby shop to see if they have 15mm decals. #FestiveTankChallenge

I found a fantastic base grey for the tank! The highlights came out a bit rough. Also l’ve just now found that I airbrushed a shadow for the hull MG 🤣🤣

The festivities and bad weather delayed the next step. There were 5 minutes of sunshine today and although it was close to freezing the primer played along. On to painting! #airfix #FestiveTankChallenge #FestiveTankChallenge24
Back on the challenge, gloss varnish dry so on with the decals then the enamel wash. Remove the excess wash with white spirit and ear buds. Next up some weathering powders and then Matt varnish. #festivetankchallenge24
