I thought the man in the hat was gonna be important. Turns out he's the creator of the world, and in a motive rant than leans on the fourth wall, claims he created Ashura, the tower, and everything else for fun. The heroes are not pleased and choose violence. #finalfantasylegend #jrpg #retrogaming

After Suzaku, it's back to the tower. No fifth world, we just go right to the big boss, Ashura. He pulls a dick move by being immune to magic, meaning I have to re-arm for melee on the fly. I beat him, but the game's not over. See if we can finish tomorrow. #FinalFantasyLegend #jrpg #retrogaming

Wow, was NOT expecting Suzaku to destroy the town while I was futzing around trying to get the item to defeat him. And his minions are no slouches either. Two party members are dead before I catch up to the big bird. Lucky my monster got badass just in time. 🧵

World 4 is kinda killing my interest in the game. The confusing navigation, tough enemies able to soak up two spells before dying, and constant attacks from Suzaku (who sometimes blinds you) are demoralizing.
But on the other hand:

Fourth world is a blasted cityscape where Suzaku- the boss- attacks you as a random encounter. Hat Man advised me to run beforehand, which is a good move, but not 100% effective. A force field makes Suzaku invincible, so I have to figure out a way around it. 🧵 #finalfantasylegend #jrpg #retrogaming

The fight with Byakko was over before I remembered to take a screenshot. The whole stage is disappointing, actually. Most of the level you're undercover and attacked only by wandering monsters, then the jail level is literally four screens long. #finalfantasylegend #jrpg #retrogaming

So the heroes get into a bar fight, and "Sarge" thinks killing one of his men makes them guard material. So now they're "henchmen" of Byakko (third Feng Shui beast), who gives them an airship and a lead on the NPC they're looking for. Not great vetting, Yakky. #finalfantasylegend #jrpg #retrogaming

Sei-Ryu actually lasted for two rounds of combat. Too bad for him Viki's been hitting the Muscle Potions pretty hard. Due to limitations on any kind of attack, the journey to get to a boss is usually more trouble than the boss itself. #finalfantasylegend #jrpg #retrogaming

My characters are starting to come into their own. My "one human hopped up on every potion" strategy is paying off. So the tower apparently connects to other worlds. Some are small, like the dark world with Gargoyles you can hunt for their meat and a silent DoT effect (!) On the fifth floor is a larger world where Seiryu (Another Feng Shui beast) is causing trouble. #FinalFantasyLegend #jrpg #retrogaming

The heroes of #FinalFantasyLegend are perhaps a little bit bloodthirsty. Two of the first three dungeons end with them straight-up murdering a boss who begs for mercy beforehand. Admittedly, both of them have done bad things, but still... not exactly hero energy, my dudes. #jrpg #retrogames
