In the last week we played #wyrmspan and #wingspan Today it was the turn of #Finspan. It was a close game as usual, M had a lot of end game powers and points whereas A had more schools of fish. A win by 3 points.

We hebben een nieuw spel, #Finspan!
Net iets makkelijker te spelen dan Wingspan en ook heel leuk.
Heerlijk uitdagend om met de pubers te doen, omdat het niet per se competitie is maar je vooral zelf je eigen acties uitvoert.
Risk is veel meer geluk en ruzie, dit is echt strategie.

The delightful Finspan. In this game we both scored over 55 in fish (card) points and had 6 schools. Neither of us had any end game scoring cards which is unusual. We still enjoy looking at the lovely art and reading the fishy facts. And even better it was a draw!

A’s fish in finspan. We like reading the fishy facts and even saw a card we’ve never seen before.
Another evening another ‘span! Today we played the fishy version, we even spotted a card we’ve never seen before. A did much better at end of round goals, M had a lot more points on cards. Overall a very close game, A winning by a single point.

This has made working on expansions for Finspan so difficult. #finspan
Cover of the Spanish edition of the game (only thing that changes is the publisher logo & the language of the promotional text though), it shows a winged fish in the center flying over a sea-foam-y background that forms a gradient from a couple tones of blue in the bottom left to fully white in the top right. At the bottom the title is written in big, plain white letters.

204. 🎲 #Finspan was cool, got me 😵💫 at the start with its apparent high complexity but got the (or enough of a) hang of it quickly enough. Beautiful & lovingly researched, loved the facts on each fish species.

Finspan. M managed to get 72 points of fish! A seemed to get a lot of cards with similar powers at the beginning of the game which made for a slow start. It’s definitely one of our favorite games of 2025.

Lots of fish in our Finspan oceans.
Another play of the hugely enjoyable Finspan. A high scoring game, we both got over 100. M won by having placed two more fish. We are looking forward to the upcoming expansion - there are never too many fish in the sea!

#Finspan is the newest Wingspan iteration, this time about cool fishies! Very quick to set up, teach & play, compared to the original, and the gameplay felt different enough for me to justify having both. 👍 Artwork is gorgeous as usual, it looks amazing.
