Fireblight of apples and pears was the first plant infection to be diagnosed as caused by bacteria in 1880 by Burrill, he called it Micrococcus amylovorus.

We loved the taste and crispiness of this FRED pear variety we found at the local supermarket.
Turns out it is the product of an 18 year breeding program in Agroscope!
And it is resistant to #fireblight 🍎🔥!
