Daytime scene on an avenue of a large city, facing across the street at a sidewalk with four or five separate pedestrians; the people look busy, yet determined; there is a very wide, eleven-story building made of golden and brown brick which was completed in nineteen-thirty and served originally as a telephone switchboard center by NYTel and later utilized for electronic switching systems by NyTel and, later, Verizon; in nineteen-seventy-five, as they were transitioning to the electronic systems, a very large fire of burning, plastic-coated cables, erupted in the building and made neighbors and firefighters sick from the toxic smoke; the building now sits unoccupied with plenty of graffiti tags and throws; the green street sign at the corner says that this is the corner of second avenue and east 13th street - and, also, don't walk; the sky in the distance has become increasingly cloudy.
