Oblique view of the Moon’s surface with the shadow of the Blue Ghost 1 lander in the foreground and the Earth hanging above in the background. Painting based on one of the first images released by the lander team.
Quick painting today of the shadow of Blue Ghost 1 on the Moon. Upright and ready to do science! Love the dramatic early morning lighting. Ink on black paper. #BGM1 #BlueGhost #FireflySpace #SciArt

I'm a space nerd and images of our blue marble still tug at my heart strings. If only it would have the same impact as the first images from Apollo.

Kevin Scholtes of #FireflySpace was telling me about some of the payloads that the company’s #BlueGhost #lunarlander will carry to the #moon and he gave a preview of the next mission.

#FireflySpace -ek gainera, modulu honen inguruko infogafia publikatu du #BlueMoon eta bere teknologia hobeto ezagutzeko
Aipatu beharra dago enpresa honek #NASA -ren babesa jaso duela
Honelakoa izango da datorren egunotan #FireflySpace -en #BlueGhost ilargiratzaileak izango duen ibilbidea eta erronkak

#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Graphics form Firefly Space showing the mission profile for the transit out to Mare Crisium and the landing attempt
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - So what lies ahead? Will go on a 4 day transit to the moon will do a TLI burn and go into orbit around the Moon for 16 days before going into the final critical burn for the decent to the moon, that process is autonomous, then landing & 14 days of science.
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Anywhere between 5 minutes and 35 minutes for Acquiring Of Signal is nominal. SSC HAS AOS with Blue Ghost-1, teams are talking to the lander.
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Flight Director at Firefly Mission Control is walking the team though procedures for get a good signal from the spacecraft was a really dramatic separation with the spacecraft drifting off into the sunlight
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Team is going though steps to power on the lander, its an autonomous process that will get the spacecraft configured and need to establish comms first, spacecraft is some 848 Km away form Earth Awaiting the word form Firefly that the have good comms
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - And this view courtesy of the SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage camera, the Firefly Space Blue Ghost -1 Spacecraft is on its way to the Mare Crisium region on the lunar surface!
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Really grand images coming form the SpaceX Falcon-9 as we await payload separation
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Next activity: 1st payload separation this will be the Blue Ghost lander deployment expected at T+1 hour 5 min
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Awaiting the SpaceX Falcon 9 second burn, SES-II underway burn will last about a minute 2nd of three burns for the MVAC engine today, burn complete and nominal orbit insertion
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - "This is incredibly hard, my words to the Firefly team is congrats for getting this far, but remember there's a lot of work to do. NASA has your back."
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - Pam Melroy " Its easy to forget just how much work this is and how many things have to go right want to thank everyone at firefly and everyone who touched the instruments as well, still have a lot of work to do!
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - A look inside the Firefly Space Mission Control center just outside Austin, TX. It's "go time" for these folks who will control and monitor the progress of the Blue Ghost -1 lander.
#NASA #CLPS #FireflySpace #ispace - NASA's coverage is taking a break until payload separation at T+ 1 hour 5 min. The Cameras on the #Falcon9 Second stage is sending back some amazing images of our world with the second stage and the payloads in the foreground
NGLR will support the determination of the distance between Earth and the Moon by reflecting very short laser pulses from Earth-based Lunar Laser Ranging Observatories (LLROs) and measuring the laser pulse transit time to the Moon and back. NGLR will greatly improve the data that is still being obtained from the Apollo era retroreflectors and will support sub-millimeter range measurements. The analysis within the Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) program will improve our understanding of the inner structure of the Moon, address modified theories of gravitation and dark matter, and further research in lunar physics and cosmology.
The Laser Ranging Retroreflector (LRRR) is the first ever deployable lunar laser ranging experiment. It was carried on Apollo 11 as part of the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package, and on Apollo 14 and Apollo 15 as part of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (ALSEP). The LRRR consists of a series of corner reflectors set within a panel. Laser beams sent from Earth are bounced off the retroreflector and the timing of the return signal can be used to measure the distance from the signal source to the reflector. The reflector was conceived by James E. Faller in 1961 It is still being used today. ( Source Wikipedia /NASA)
