A piping plover chick takes a break while wandering the beach in southeastern Massachusetts. One of its parents was watching nearby as the chick kept moving in my direction! #birds #plover #pipingplover #fledgling #fledglingfriday #massaudubon #birdphotography 🪶

A fledgling robin with down feathers has just left the nest and is sitting in the grass in the center of the frame against a row of out-of-focus privet hedges where it shelters to stay safe. It is facing the left side of the frame with its face turned up proudly at an angle.

Is #FledglingFriday a thing?

Back in July I saw this fledgling American Robin hopping through the grass and calling out for food. It was being fed by a nearby sparrow (not shown), who seemed to have adopted it.
