The flint is a piece of stone with the outside chipped off to reveal the sharp inner area and brought to an edge.

We had some very nice remarks about our flints, in a recent review. This one is a Neolithic flint scraper from Hooe. Around 6,000 years old.

Fantastic day with Thornborough Archaeology Group yesterday near Ripon.

It was a privilege to meet some great people and uncover layers from (possibly) 4000 to 8000 BC.

There are nine pieces in this collection. They are laid out on a very pale turquoise background. The top row of three are the biggest. They are all shades of grey, the darkest of which is the one in the very centre of the three rows of three.

Late Mesolithic flint hammer and stone blade cores. Mesolithic flint scrapers and blades. From Ashburnham, about 8000 years old.
