A tiny, downy feather, Floated by my window, On a soft breeze, Backlit by the intense Morning sun, In a warm and cloudless blue sky. Staring out the window, Waiting for my coffee To interpret the world for me, I caught the feather's flight, And watched, As it drifted Peacefully into a shadow And vanished Into soft darkness. I listened To the various birds, Singing from treetops And countless perches, Wondering Whose soft belly, Was slightly less Warm. February 23, 2025

Most mornings, I sit at my typewriter with my coffee and just stare out the window, sifting words through the sieve of my brain, waiting for something to make my fingertips itch. Sometimes the poem floats by, softly.
