Two cor-ten clad wicking beds. Each is partially covered with a frame supporting shade cloth to protect from the sun and from flying pests (ie. birds). There is a wooden fence behind, beyond which is a street.

Spent the day organising the garage, to provide the landscape contractor easy access to the courtyard next week. Also completed the frames and protective netting for the #FoodCube wicking beds. Ready for spring planting! #UrbanAg

Having had #FoodCube beds for six or so months, we've learnt a lot. We need fewer plants next spring and should stagger the plantings a little. Remarkably productive and you could let them go up to two weeks without a water refill; even for thirsty things like tomatoes. Autumn/winter coming up...

The Asian style slaw for #PrawnSandwichBrigade to take to #MelbDerby tonight uses a lot of herbs. Have gathered them in before the outdoors heats up too much. Also watered outdoor tubs not on irrigation and topped up the #FoodCube wicking beds. Lots of pollinators busy, both native and European.
