![One hot, sunny day in La Paz, Baja Mexico, we were leaving after a matinee production of “Merlina” (similar to “Wednesday”), only to find there were some custom cars on the plaza forecourt.
This black and white, low-level view of the front of a 1956 V8 Ford pickup is so low - you can see the back tires under the chassis.
The shine of the pristine grill, bumper, and headlamps compete with the flaring sun high on the right of the image.
The Ford ornament [a lightning bolt across a shield bearing an industrial cogwheel, beneath the word ‘Ford’ in script] sits high and center on the front of the hood, above the V8 (an ‘8’ sitting in the crook of a large angular ‘V’) insignia, which in turn sits above the license plate with a surround that reads ‘1956 PICKUP’.
Beneath the car are rough flagstones of the plaza floor, and on the left edge of the image a stark silhouette of a telegraph post who’s wires climb diagonally through the image - above the car, and through the sun-flare.
