Earlier this spring, I came across several all-green Jack-in-the-pulpits (Arisaema triphyllum). They can be difficult to spot on the forest floor, but once you train your eye, you can’t miss them. I look forward to seeing these woodland inhabitants each year.

🦠: Tubifera ferruginosa
📍: Alley Pond Park
This immature Tubifera ferruginosa is strikingly easy to spot in the field. In this stage, it certainly lives up to its colloquial name: Raspberry Slime Mold

A tiny splash of sky in the moss 💙
Spotted this delicate robin’s egg on the forest floor — a quiet reminder of new life all around us.

I’ve had Canada Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense) growing in several places around my house for years.

A single yellow trout lily flower with six bright-yellow curved petals and dark purple stamens rises above the forest floor, surrounded by dried leaves and mottled green foliage. The background is softly blurred woodland.
Spring's quiet magic— found a trout lily, Erythronium americanum, tucked among the leaves today.
