About the Situation The Trump Administration cut nearly $49 million in federal funding from the National CASA/GAL Association. CASA volunteers are crucial voices for foster youth, helping ensure they are protected in the legal system. Without funding, thousands of vulnerable children risk losing representation in court.

What is happening? Across the United States, abused and neglected children depend on CASA volunteers to advocate for their safety and futures. But now, critical funding has been stripped away. Putting thousands of vulnerable lives at risk!
What is it? CASA stands for Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children. These are volunteers who speak up for abused & neglected children in court. “Without my CASA, I wouldn't have gotten any say at all in the court system. She advocated for me when nobody else did. Not even my case manager advocated for me the way she did.” -Blaine

LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC youth, and disabled youth are overrepresented in foster care and face higher rates of abuse, neglect, and aging out without support. Foster care is supposed to be temporary, but over 20,000 youth "age out" each year with no permanent family. foster youth need more than placement. they need pjrotection, policy, & people who show up
Every child deserves a chance. Here’s how you can help. Educate yourself on the lived experiences of foster youth. Support orgs that uplift foster youth voices. Become a mentor, advocate, or respite caregiver if you’re able. Donate supplies like hygiene kits, backpacks, and school supplies. Vote for policies that prioritize child welfare reform and mental health care access. Awareness is the first step. Action is the next.
