But now, critical funding has been stripped away. Putting thousands of vulnerable lives at risk!

What is it? 

CASA stands for Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children. 
These are volunteers who speak up for abused & neglected children in court.

We were at the @casanys.bsky.social Diamonds and Hearts event last night, celebrating 30 years of advocacy for NY’s most vulnerable children. What a great way to honor #FosterCareAwarenessMonth as CASA volunteers help children facing abuse or neglect, many of whom are in foster care.

Many youth in care face instability: on average, a child changes homes 7+ times.

LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC youth, and disabled youth are overrepresented in foster care and face higher rates of abuse, neglect, and aging out without support.

Foster care is supposed to be temporary, but over 20,000 youth "age out" each year with no permanent family.
