The Electoral System The Scottish Parliament uses the Additional Member System (AMS), which is a form of proportional representation. Each voter gets two votes: 1. Constituency vote: Scotland is divided into 73 constituencies, each electing one MSP using first-past-the-post (FPTP) - whoever gets the most votes wins. 2. Regional vote: Scotland is divided into 8 regions, each electing 7 additional MSPs from party lists, making 56 regional MSPs total. The regional seats are allocated using the d'Hondt method, which works to make the overall result more proportional. Crucially, the formula divides each party's regional vote by (the number of constituency seats they've already won in that region + 1). This means parties that do well in constituencies find it harder to win regional seats.

Too much is at stake at #Holyrood26 to fumble the ball by herding behind our favourite (or the least worst) Party.

Cool heads will look for the surest way to guarantee a pro-independence majority of MSPs.

That means:

Vote SNP — #1 Constituency
Vote Green — #2 Regional
