#FridayFieldWork Post a photo from the field! Here is our team in the lower mainland processing bats for the probiotics project. Captured bats are swabbed, measured & some are PIT-tagged then released. This is the summer "night-life" of a bat biologist (or volunteer)! πŸ¦‡ We'll soon be back at it!

First batch of fieldwork for 2026!

Revisiting coastal sand dunes for @ukceh.bsky.social change monitoring, and nice to learn about a new science issue; collecting samples to examine the effects of Nitrogen deposition on dune biology

It'll be interesting to learn about how @ukceh.bsky.social Flux Towers can monitor how CO2 is both absorbed and emitted by the salt marsh, and how we can use this to monitor greenhouse gas changes

Drug-resistant microorganisms along with antimicrobials enter the environment from polluting sources like wastewater & agricultural runoff.

We study antimicrobial resistance in the environment to learn which sources matter most, and potential risks to human health

These cameras let us observe vertical movement of the surface of the bogs; from which we can observe if they're a healthy place for wildlife and storing greenhouse gases!

#FridayFieldwork winter fieldwork at Brady Glacier, Alaska: Winds so strong that tent nearly blew away, a multiday blizzard that kept us tent-bound where we ran out of food, and then a wee technical issue with the plane that was luckily fixed with bailing wire and a few ounces of good luck πŸ§ͺβš’οΈβ„οΈ

#FridayFieldwork #Syria 2004-2008. From prehistoric times the Leja has been a refuge area for communities. The survey directed by F. Braemer was intense with more than 600 sites inventoried. My favorites are the cemeteries of dolmens Sharaya and Qarasa

#FridayFieldwork Before the tanks, the bulldozer! It was in 2008 in dolmens field of Ain Dakar (Deraa - South Syria). Someone had decided to do a picnic area. Thanks to the DGA in Deraa for their help in that preliminary survey. It was a great site! #Syria
