Color photograph taken in the woods where I live and often explore. It's a macro view of a pair of oak acorn caps on a bed of green moss in the foreground. Next to the acorn caps is a wee seedling tree maybe 4 inches tall. They're softly lit by the sun filtering through the bare trees. Behind that, there are the base of tree trunks filling in the background––one large, a medium sized, and many, many small ones. A faint blue sky is visible through the trees at the top of the frame.

Once, when walking through the woods, I came upon a pair of empty acorn caps next to a tiny seedling tree and thought what a wonderful circle of life they made there on that moss bed. Future forest.

A gravel road leads us into the image; it's lined with scruffy golden colored grass, and it curves to the right. The middle ground is a flat, fallow farmland. Long horizontal photograph of a landscape. The farm field in the sliver of foreground is the color of faded yellow ochre; pale gold. Farther back, the horizon is filled with a row of large hills, called knobs in this region of Kentucky. They're carpeted in the deep, lush green of late summer. The sky which takes up 2/3 of the photo is blue and a thin layer of clouds fan out like crepuscular sun rays, but with clouds. They begin at the horizon line and fan out to the top and side edges of the photograph.
