Not just a niche. A full on aedicule. Ornately carved at that. This is actually set into a quoin between the two set back buttresses on the south west corner of #StMaryCannington #Somerset. Mouse think that is quite unusual. Name the figure for bonus points #FridaysFiguresInStone

These niches don't just have tenants, they're looking down to see what's going on. Mouse wonders if the medieval originals on this and other churches always did that. Anyone know or have examples? #FridaysFiguresInStone from #StMaryCannington #Somerset

Left and right of west door #StMaryCannington #Somerset

Classic niche design. Croqueted #Ogee canopy with finials, pinnacles extend from piers and responds. Garden centre quality statues but nice to see the niches used. Not just #FridaysFacesInStone but #FridaysFiguresInStone
