We talk about Rural Alaska energy costs.
So, www.kyuk.org has an FM transmitter, 4 channels of digital TV, and a 15,000 watt AM plant. The station is fortunate to have recently built new towers and new transmitters.
The power bill?
$150,000 a year.

Public Radio stations serve many indigenous communities. This list from Native Voice One lists locations and websites. Many have live streams for your enjoyment.
Give some of them a listen, and support them if you can!

Good question, Rick!
Regional clout is certainly one measure. KYUK has a bunch of FM repeaters across the Delta as well as the stream so it's got substantial coverage.
But the small ones like www.kskopublicradio.com in McGrath are sure worthy, too! (And they stream.)
