Senate approves bill to end the shutdown, sending it to the House The Senate has passed legislation to reopen the government, bringing the longest shutdown in history closer to an end after a small group of Democrats struck a deal with Republicans.

Now this #capitulation arrives in the House... where Republicans need a simple majority of votes (218 out of the 435 total) to pass the budget. Republicans hold 219 seats.
