The project is expected to commence commercial operations in Q2 2026. The funding was arranged through a combination of US$100 million from Macquarie Group and KeyBanc Capital Markets, with the latter acting as financial advisor to SMT Energy on the deal. FlexGen Power Systems, a leading battery energy storage integrator, will supply the equipment for the project. The SMTHouston IV facility will connect to the ERCOT power grid, enabling it to participate in the wholesale market and supply energy and ancillary services to the grid.
