New Support for Microsoft .NET Core and Azure Integrations #futurestack #cloudfact http://ow.ly/MOT530f8Vok
To whomever was asking me & Stackdriver folks at #FutureStack whether there's support for custom uptime checks: yes. cloud.google.com/monitoring/alerts/uptime...
I was struck that so many of the women I talked to at the Women in Tech lunchtime gathering at #FutureStack worked at New Relic.
Dynamic drilldowns make it possible for business users to explore and dive into data to find useful patterns. #FutureStack
Cambia Health now talking about their business decider dashboards, used to help sales/business make sales. #FutureStack
Systematic monitoring of all the various kubernetes components from top to bottom to ensure system is running smoothly #FutureStack
Next up: Gannett showing off their monitoring & dashboards of the USA today network [which runs on Kubernetes!] #FutureStack
[ed: I'm amazed that American Eagle is showing live real KPIs from which one could derive quarterly sales performance] #FutureStack
Overlaying past 24 hours of data helps spot differences. "flash sale!" vs. "everyone likes eclipses so much they stop shopping" #FutureStack
"We know what's normal, and we see spikes and anomalies when things aren't normal." #FutureStack
Emphasis on use of percentiles in graphs rather than means; means can lie to you [ed: yes!] #FutureStack
Dashboards are useful when you think something may not be right, to debug and to have confidence once back to normal. #FutureStack
[ed: a lot of this boils down to: do you find anomalies by staring at data with humans live, or use alerting then humans look?] #FutureStack
(but as speaker is pointing out, if something does go wrong, you want to see the impact ASAP and know when you've fixed it) #FutureStack
[ed: you can't spend all day staring at dashboards when nothing's wrong as an engineer working on solving operational problems] #FutureStack
[ed: btw, these dashboards look nice and would fit in a NOC or boardroom, but aren't as helpful from DevOps/SRE perspective] #FutureStack
