Not seen here, bunched up rubber band inside and outside the cable exit to prevent it from pulling on the board.

Top got warped unfortunately due to the only major fuck up (that wasn't even because of me).

The guts, a GP2040-CE Advanced Breakout board. You sorta can see the rubber bands here.

I present to you all: the JankBox. Made of 90% cardboard and wheat paste. It turned out better and worse than I wanted it to. Yes it works and isn't flimsy.

Thinking of making a video on how I went about it and other thoughts.

Can't sleep so here's a little pin mapping work from last night. Now analog directions are no longer trapped behind a d-pad switch. Independent input bindings for Left and Right sticks plus d-pad directions in addition to the original mode-selected inputs. Analogs can tilt too. #gp2040ce #choices

There are a lot of makers using #GP2040CE for budget all-button controllers. A significant number of ABCs on the market right now are running it because it's free and feature rich. However, if you are looking for Hori, Qanba, etc. to start using the firmware, that's likely never going to happen.
