Watched the Crest of Iron OVA and it recasts Mardoul in a more heroic role while giving him a huge downgrade from his TV version to a generic old king who I can't even find pics of. Also adds "adopted so not real incest" and takes away Galient's roller wheels.

I wasn't a huge fan. #Galient

The final episode opens with a fierce battle in a race against the clock, and we eventually see Galient falling apart after days of battle to save the future.

It's no Tomino ending, but some believe in an ideal that's already been erased.

Some chilling shots at the end of that episode: Joldy reclaiming Galient, Lordan's demise. But I was a bit disappointed High Schultatte didn't take the opportunity he'd been handed to do something truly shocking in this kind of show. #Galient

High Schultatte threatens an old woman and Mardoul concocts a cunning plan to escape unaware that his empire has started to collapse from all sides. Meanwhile the ultimate sacrifice is freely given for the sake of the future.

But my favorite moment in that episode was Churull confronting Jojo about how he's distracted and letting it get the better of him. Really feels like they truly care for each other, despite the short time since they've met. #Galient

Not to be outdone by other Sunrise shows, Jojo gets slapped so hard and so many times he gets a nosebleed. #Galient

I actually don't mind Galient transforming into a plane like I do with Gundam, it's still chunky like a variable fighter in Gerwalk mode so it doesn't seem to have folded in on itself, and when it gets an upgrade they show them practicing the combination sequence. #Galient

Ranvel sees Jojo for the first time, shocked to learn he's a child, and the moment is accompanied by a flexatone (Newtype flash, but played a bit slower). #Galient

Ranvel absolutely knows he's in a heroic mecha anime, so of course he proposes a duel instead of feeding their forces into the Galient grinder.

I liked Vanilla and Coconna, this gang has a wild energy. Window so wants to be Hilmocha's pet he jumps at any chance to do what she asks. #Galient

If you* thought Galient was sick before, now it's got a double barrel laser rifle and a shield, plus some other secrets we haven't even seen used yet. #Galient

It's like Starfleet, but possibly even more useless? #Galient

Despite piloting a legendary machine, Jojo is still no match for an organized enemy using tactics, and we finally get more information about Hilmocha's circumstances, which just baffles the other party members. #Galient

Oh man, I loved episode 8, Hilmocha and Red got some especially good fight animation on top of Jojo and High dueling it out in mechs. #Galient

High Schultatte's pride puts him at odds with the rest of the emperor's army and leads him to getting his ass beat, LFG.

Also it feels rare that "long range" units are actually utilized as such, so the Ballista attack feels novel. #Galient

Hilmocha is mean and clearly has an agenda, and I love her for that.
