36. Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge
I had always been curious what this game was about but never had the chance. While obviously not as great as the N64 titles, this game does a decent job standing on its own in its on quirky way. I liked it!

What a lovely little game!
The premise boils down to climbing a mountain. The game gives off Journey and Abzu vibes.
Exploring and understanding the world this character lives in was great. Simple but well done.

I now have an Analogue Pocket and the world of retro gaming at my fingertips... so I play this? I took revenge on a game that grossly challenged my childhood and thanks to save states offsetting the poor design, it's now beaten.

34.) Overboss
One of my favorite board games ever got a Switch version this year. Can't really beat this, But I did complete a solo campaign. So that counts to me.
Whether digital or physical cardboard, I definitely recommend this.

A fun but simple game. If you love Wind Waker there is enough of that in this that you'll like it.
Controls are a little limiting, I believe this originally was a mobile game.
I still enjoyed my time with it.

33.) Balatro
While I'm still going to keep trying other decks, I'm considering this 'beat' in a basic sense as I successfully won a run! I had an Egg joker powering up Swashbuckler and it was glorious. Heavy club deck with powerful two pairs and flushes.

32.) The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
35 hours later I've beaten the next Zelda. I gotta say, overall I'm underwhelmed. Not sure how to explain it. Still had fun, but I felt no excited urgency to beat it. Maybe that's a 'me problem'.

A fun metroidvania with an interesting twist on combat.
Not quite a soulslike, but it's definitely challenging.
I still need to unlock a couple more endings and find a bunch of collectibles.

Now Portal 2 is absolutely a true historical gem. The pacing, story, wit, & puzzles were a vast improvement on the already good original. A few puzzles had confusing exits which did hinder a little but solving them eventually was gratifying.

Believe it or not I've never played Portal until yesterday. Finished up this beloved classic this afternoon. Overall I enjoyed it. I liked the subtle story beats, the humor, the puzzles.

As a roguelike, beating this game isn't really just about getting through a run but that's what I'm considering it as beaten for. Once the relic and orb system clicked, I had a great time strategizing. I one-shotted the final boss... 😮

28.) Death's Door
My first time beating this on Switch but my second time beating this overall.. this game stands to be one of my favorite games of all time and I think The Old Watchtowers might be a top three song of all gaming music. Just incredible.

I forgot to note I finally completed the Animal Crossing DLC campaign after a long multi-year delay. My wife is very happy with me now.

I'm... Really disappointed with how this game was handled. It's not organized logically but I still enjoyed my time enough in Story Mode. I just wanna play Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble instead.

24.) SteamWorld Heist II
A game I wanted to exist so badly became a game that did exist. I fully beat it in 46 hours and I loved every minute of it. Nice story. Great mechanics. The music of Steam Powered Giraffe. Stellar experience.

In similar fashion the NWC had me itching to experience this NES title again. It's a little slippery and I don't hold a strong fondness for it anymore, it still was the birthplace of some great Mario characters!

After doing various challenges in the Nintendo World Championships game I was inspired to go beat this classic without warps. It was a good time. I am reminded of how much I liked the latter worlds and World 3.

20.) Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons
This entry was a delightful mashup. The Piczle brand lacks some QoL features but they're still fun nonetheless. I had a good time 100%ing this. Just wish I hadn't accidentally hit undo a few times.

19.) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
After around 48 hours of time logged I completed one of the best game remakes ever made. It's got gameplay, graphics, sound design, quality-of-life improvements... it was a great time through and through.

18.) Animal Well
Last night I beat the main 'layer' of Animal Well, but I'd like to give it more time to see if there are more secrets to discover. The game was truly engaging and made me so satisfied to explore and solve the mysteries. I recommend!

This was a different journey for Senua than her first and I respect and appreciate it for that. There's an aspect I found confounding which hindered the overall experience, but I had a good time anyway.

16.) Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On
There is no actual end to this game but after 35+ hours and many run throughs I'm calling an official end on this time with it. Fun solitaire action and horse racing positioning strategy. Great to dive back in.

15.) Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope: Rayman In The Phantom Show DLC
It was shorter and easier than the last DLC campaign but the trade off was some fun new abilities with newcomer Rayman. I had a lot of fun and it was nice seeing the Phantom return.

14.) As Dusk Falls
My wife suggested I play this narrative based game and I had a good time. I'm actually proud of my decision making but not everything went my way. It was a pretty good story that had me on my toes. Highly recommended story game.

Last night I beat this DLC campaign with 84%. It's been a fun extension of the main game. I look forward to 100%ing it and starting the next DLC campaign with Rayman.
