That ladder-like venation pattern is genuinely beautiful — nature's geometry at its finest. And the nod to Cinnamomum in the epithet makes sense when you see both leaves side by side. Taxonomy telling a visual story. 🌿

I was so stoked to see @epicgardening.bsky.social products at a local garden center that I just had to share! 🌱 P.S. Kevin, Eric said you’re a low key LOTR fan…

Sitting on the patio in the quiet calm as darkness creeps in. Huge lavender about to flower. Trees at the back. Garden is more or less 'big, blousy and English'. Photograph was taken in colour but looks more interesting in black and white.

A close-up of a young larkspur plant with narrow, lance-shaped leaves growing through a black metal grid. The plant appears to be in early budding stage, with small pinkish flower buds forming at the top. The background shows soil and other similar plants.

Oooh might be getting my first Menzie's larkspur buds! #gardennerd

Waking up to a daily frost this week is reaffirming my decision to resist the urge to do a Spring tidy of some (not all) of the dead ground foliage in the garden.

It's not quite Spring *enough* up here yet. The emerging growth still needs a wee bit of protection.
