I actually met T Dan Smith, he was brought in to talk to us at Newcastle Uni for Urban Sociology by one Jim Davies, Labour councillor (I believe, long time ago memory may be failing) Jim lived on Summer hill Terrace. Newcastle's Urban infrastructure is very much a case in point imo #GatesheadFlyover
The costs today to replace and redevelopment with inevitable reduction of actual roadways is simply staggering. There is no easy fix, and it may result in years of cuts and deferred development to pay for it...

It's also wonderful to see that my favourite road albeit from morbid fascination, #gatesheadflyover, is likely to meet it's end. It's nice to know the entire history of something! It's alarming that concrete has a shorter life-span than knowing how to deal with traffic in Gateshead however...
