It was the #GenZstare before it ever had a name, and it wasn’t just Gen Z. Millennials do it too: they just give up and avoid difficult issues, problems or questions
But to solve things, we have to be able to talk them through, even if it’s uncomfortable #resilience

It’s a little bit of both. But yeah, most of your neurons form before age 25, so it might be harder for them to unlearn the unhealthy habits that make them shut out others
I’ve had difficulty communicating basic concepts to them at work formally, and on social media informally

Furthermore on the #GenZStare to what I said I think the #boomers , #GenX, and #millennials who raised #GenZ didn't really teach Gen Z anything about social interaction so when they stare they are trying to figure out how to respond to the situation they were never taught how to respond to.
In addition to this of what I said about #GenZStare they are just socially drained because they are working the same amount of jobs that the silent generation was working before the 40 hour week was established.
As a #millennial I have to defend #GenZ and the so called #GenZStare. I think they do that stare because they are trying to figure out how to respond to what was said. And probably a mix of that and all the "Stranger Danger" propaganda.
How have I never experienced the #genzstare in the wild, especially having raised two Gen Z’ers? Hell, I hadn’t heard of it until a few weeks ago.

"Thoughts on the #genzstare"
The oldest genz is 29 and I am 31 so I see no reason in generational divisions but if I must humor this- staring in confusion when someone over 35 says some dumb fucking shit is a valid reaction
However we need to discuss an concern this bs fighting & ableism is ignoring

Brilliant read- share & share widely. As a Gen X, I also am apparently urged to give two shits about the #GenZStare. I strongly echo Charlotte's cogent, well thought out response to this most serious of issues!! Dumbass News Media....
Have you noticed the Gen Z stare, when they seem to be in a torpor leaving you to wonder when they’ll start speaking? The word stare comes from Old English starian “to gaze, stare”, from Proto-Germanic *staren, ultimately traceable back to Proto-Indo-European *stor-e-, a suffixed o-grade form of the root *ster- “stiff”, so it’s the idea of “stiffness” that actually underlies the word. In this more basic sense, an extended zero-grade form of this root *trp-e- came into Latin as torpere “to be stiff, be numb, be inactive, be torpid” and torpor “numbness, stupefaction, torpor, sluggishness”, from which we get the English words torpor and torpid. From the notion of “moving briskly, moving stiffly”, another extended form *sterd- came into Old English as styrtan “to start, leap up” (only attested in Old English as a present participle in the Northumbrian dialect as sturtende) giving us Modern English start, with the original notion of “move or spring suddenly” expanding to “awaken suddenly or abruptly; flinch or recoil in alarm” by around 1300, and then by the 1660s to “cause to begin acting or operating”, and it’s only by the 1820s that we see the meaning “to begin to move, leave, or depart; enter upon action” as we have it today.
