![During June we were blessed with the opportunity to paint as part of worship for Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren. The artwork created during that service is what we're sharing today, "All Things Shall Be Possible" a 24x24" Acrylic on Canvas from June 2025. The title from this artwork comes from the scripture and sermon message presented that Pentecost Sunday morning. The Pastor shared how speech/languages were scattered during the story of The Tower of Babel in Genesis 11 and then were able to be heard and understood again on that first Pentecost Sunday. For generations it would have been impossible for different groups of people to communicate and understand one another; but, God made it so that 'all things shall be possible.'
Artist's Statement / Backstory: Sitting in the Spirit to prepare myself [and therefore the canvas] for Pentecost Sunday morning I kept envisioning this deep dark crimson and violet fire. It wasn't the traditional bright fire that I'd seen or even painted before; so, I prepared a dark maroon colored background for my work. When I was getting ready that morning, I kept getting nudged and hearing "bright green" and "swan." My logical brain: that makes no sense, oh, and you have a maroon background to put all that on! Driving to church I said aloud if today's supposed to be lime green swan I really need to know; just like that the sun came out shining on a tree to my right making it a fluorescent green color and a white bird directly in front of my windshield. 'Got it!
