GENEVA: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has warned that geoeconomic confrontation is now the biggest global risk for 2026, as intensifying geopolitical competition, economic weaponization and concerns over technology shape a new era of global competition. According to the 2026 Global Risks Report published today, geoeconomic confrontation has jumped eight places to the top of the near-term risk rankings, with 18 percent of experts surveyed calling it the risk with the most potential to trigger a global crisis this year.
