I've been collecting notes (and my LLMs have too) on things I and the LLMs got wrong while doing some #gnustep work, and started publishing them to a new website: gnustep-developer.com. Includes llms.txt so the models can find the info again.

Anyone here know how to actually get #GNUstep projects to compile on Fedora 43 or Debian Trixie? I've got half a mind to add some CI to gmake to prove to myself I'm not crazy here

PROOF #GNUSTEP is possible in grippy sock jail. UNHINGED LINUX POSTING.
I can't believe I've resorted to trying to get #GNUSTEP running in a VM to stay sane in PSYCH WARD.
Fuck this place, I wanna go home and work on bare metal already.

Good news for users of Pentium class machines:
It is perfectly possible to build a fully functional Franken-wmlive for 32-bit combining the Bookworm installer/kernel with the Debian/Trixie i386 software pool.
So, unless a showstopper suggests otherwise, there will also be an i386 version of […]

For the curious, try this at your own risk and let me know how it goes. I'm especially interested in feedback of people trying this on real hardware like a Raspberry Pi.

GNUStep's missed opportunities stemmed partly from GNU's decision to use GTK+ for GNOME, sidelining it. Reimplementing entire GUI toolkits proved a massive challenge, hindering its ability to gain widespread adoption. #GNUStep 3/6
