Kuzey Denizi’ndeki tükenmiş petrol sahaları CO2 deposu oluyor Avrupa Birliği’nin (AB) "net sıfır" emisyon hedefine ulaşma yolculuğunda kritik bir adım atılıyor. Danimarka açıklarındaki Kuzey Denizi’nde bulunan ve bir zamanlar fosil yakıtların çıkarıldığı Nini petrol sahası, artık gezegeni ısıtan karbondioksitin (CO2) deniz tabanının 1.800 metre altında kalıcı olarak depolanacağı bir tesise dönüştürülüyor. Greensand adı verilen bu proje, önümüzdeki yıl ticari faaliyetlerine başladığında, AB'nin ilk tam kapasiteli açık deniz CO2 depolama tesisi olacak.
