As an architect, it feels really natural to have a foot in advocacy, policy making, and education.

I am really surprised that more architects aren't engaged in this manner.

It not only great marketing, it is creating markets that you are then expert in.

I wanted to compare Seattle’s basic development pattern using ADUs as townhouses against a more efficient use of Neighborhood Residential land (#Greenzoning ) like the #seattle6 .

If you think reformulating Single Family zoning to allow for more diverse housing types and a lot more households is radical, wait until you see the consequences of doing nothing.

For the future of new housing options in ‘single family zones’ we need to be very intentional abt the narrative framework. #GreenZoning is 1 way to frame future growth in a climate context but need to use complimentary economic, equity, and justice lenses for holistic approach.

Seattle’s zoned development capacity map-showing where potential for new development is highest (reds). territory outside urban villages (white lines) is detached Single Family (olive). There is nearly no way to add households to those areas. That’s not #GreenZoning
