Might go to bed earlier than planned as there can't be many things to leave you with a warmer sense of wellbeing than watching #GurneySlade have a conversation with a cow... #RewindTV
In case you hadn't seen, the lovely people at @rewindtv.bsky.social are repeating The Strange World of Gurney Slade. First episode tonight at 9 and then Sundays and Saturdays at the same time. If you've never been down this weirdly wonderful rabbit hole it's well worth it... #GurneySlade
Title screen for the black and white TV series The Strange World of Gurney Slade. It shows Gurney, played by Anthony Newley, walking down a suburban street, looking pensive.
Just finishing watching THE STRANGE WORLD OF GURNEY SLADE starring Anthony Newley.
Didn’t know what to expect. And now... wow!
Surreal, bonkers, brilliant & funny. Poignant too.
And that final episode - genius.
Absolutely loved it!

(Now got the music stuck in my head too...)
Was that the voice of Roger Moore? #gurneyslade
It's Gurney time

More telly music should have woodwind on it. #GurneySlade
So did I! Well I liked the first one so much I now want the DVD...Oh. Only 5 were made but without seeing the rest I would argue that at least it didn't overstay its (limited at the time) welcome. Not a laugh-a-minute comedy but there's at least three excellent jokes in the first one. #GurneySlade
Caught up on that episode of #GurneySlade last night on Rewind TV. What a unique and stunningly original show, not just for its time but any time. I can’t even begin to imagine how ordinary viewers would have approached or understood it back in 1960.
He's not wrong. #GurneySlade
Wow, what have I just seen! Admit I had never even heard of #GurneySlade but it's both weird and completely wonderful. Incredibly self-referential making it feel way ahead of its time. Well done @rewindtv.bsky.social for this gem...
Well that was incredible. Similar to watching the birth of four different television formats simultaneously all as part of one television programme. Absolutely astonishing work #GurneySlade
Experimentation, taking a risk. A totally alien concept to ITV now.
#gurneyslade
Note the "Anthony Newley" mention on the newspaper front page #GurneySlade
Watching #GurneySlade. So this must have been the point in the 1960s when the drugs really kicked in...
"What's your favourite food"
"Sausages"

This is like an extended Vision On sketch with speech. Gurney's fed up with eggs #GurneySlade
It's about 8 minutes to go until "The Strange World of Gurney Slade" on Rewind TV (Freeview 92 if it's in your area). Well worth seeing as a piece of landmark television at the dawn of the sixties that's hardly ever repeated on broadcast television, with the obvious hashtag being #GurneySlade
