Inspired by Michael Riley and Rachel Foster at #HACONF25, tomorrow I'm going on a local walking tour of my hometown to inform new planning in our historic environment. Can't wait to learn and plan! 5-year-old in tow has been promised cake.
1/2 . A really good question! I thought about it a lot at #haconf25 when Sally Burnham showed her work around James Boyce's Imperial Mud. In the text, the people of the Fens live a life in synergy with that environment, they campaign against powerful forces trying to use the land for their profit.
Thought this was interesting from Stanton (2014) in relation to Tom Allen's session at @histassoc.bsky.social #haconf25. US context different but there is a clear need for storytelling in history, but this needs to be balanced by considering our own positionally in the storytelling process.
Spent a bit of today reflecting back on Tom Allen great session at @histassoc.bsky.social #haconf25. Have been thinking about how I weave some of that session into work with trainees when we talk storytelling in history. Always great to come to conferences and go away inspired to develop practice.
This looks excellent - I particularly like the environment enquiry, especially so soon after a really interesting session at #haconf25 on the impact of colonisation on the environment with Nini Visscher.
Great to finally get my hands on a copy of this at #haconf25 - brilliant book (I think), fascinating stories, amazing illustrations. Find out more at this webinar, 4pm 3rd June: tinyurl.com/5bk5dyhp
Spending time with so many committed enthusiastic and knowledgeable #historyteacher s at @histassoc.bsky.social #HAconf25 has left me feeling both more optimistic about the future and jealous of their pupils! Would be fun to be in some of those lessons!
Finally moved across to BlueSky after the excellent (as always) #HAconf25
Along with the predictably overwhelming number of exciting ideas, this conference also resulted in a list of so many books with *MUST READ* in my notes that I had an amazon basket total of £193.78... Saved (some) for later...
Reflecting on an excellent #HAConf25 as I return to school! I always struggle to look to the future at this time of year and feel I have run out of ideas. I left the conference energised and excited again. A brilliant location too!
Still feeling positive & inspired after histassoc.bsky.social conference yesterday. Thank you HA team!
On my run this morning I passed through Cheltenham Racecourse and Michael Riley’s closing lecture really resonated - about how sense of identity and connection to nature is so important
#HAConf25
Seen various posts about #HAConf25. It sounds like a really good event. I miss that world!
As @htenuk.bsky.social members recover from a busy & enriching time at @histassoc.bsky.social #HAConf25, we are proud so many of our membership presented (& supported presenters) focused on the continuing professional development of #primaryteacher a & #secondary #historyteacher s & #mentors.
After spending weeks in the classroom- One of my favourite things about the @histassoc.bsky.social annual conference is Paula’s walks #HAConf25. Don’t tell everyone - there will be no places left next year.
Fantastic weekend at @histassoc.bsky.social the HA annual conference! #HAConf25
Thank you to everyone who attended my session!
Our #HAConf25 presentation today touched on issue of pedagogical purpose, & reffed this blog in passing...

What a fabulous weekend at #HAConf25
So lovely to collaborate with @catherinepriggs.bsky.social to share strategies for curriculum coherence and its impact. So many inspiring sessions and conversations, all in beautiful sunshine and Liverpool docks.
Thank you @histassoc.bsky.social team!
#HAConf25 was a blast.
Thanks to @jacobolivey.bsky.social @mrsthorne.bsky.social @catherinepriggs.bsky.social @egcarr.bsky.social @davidjhibbert.bsky.social @e-nicholson.bsky.social and @michaeldoron.bsky.social for terrific workshops - and to the @histassoc.bsky.social team for organising!
#haconf25 was a blast. Great to connect with colleagues, friends and teachers and enjoy some insightful, inspiring and thought-provoking sessions. We are so lucky to have spaces where we can elevate history and history teaching and share research, resources and ideas.
What a wonderful weekend at #haconf25. Liverpool was beautiful and the workshops were all on point. See you in Newcastle (and yes I've changed my mind about that).
I would love to post some gorgeous photos of Liverpool following #HAConf25 but the only things that made it to my camera roll are book recommendations…
But what suggests a conference well spent better than that!

Delighted you enjoyed the paper. Thank you for coming along (especially when there were so many other great options at #HAconf25)
Always a pleasure to present with @lauralondo1017.bsky.social and very grateful for the interaction of the people who joined us this morning.
It's been great to meet up with colleagues & friends, & hear from #historyteacher s & #historians
Goodbye #HAConf25.
As usual, absolutely loved #HACONF25. I learned so much about telling stories, looking over the historian's shoulder, literacy and disciplinary interplay, and KS4 enquiry construction. Dinner and quiz were brilliant, somehow ended up on Diarmaid MacCulloch's team (?) and met so many great people 1/2
So inspiring to attend my first HA conference at #haconf25 . It felt quite surreal to see history teaching discourse in physical room format! I had some great conversations and have left with lots to think about 😊
On the way back from the HA Conference feeling incredibly energised & inspired.
Real privilege to deliver a session with Pete on the power of stories at GCSE. It was so great to meet new and familiar faces & engage in fantastic curricular conversations. I LOVE our history community! #haconf25
