Volubilis Excursion – May 17 A full-day trip to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. The group will depart Rabat at 8:00 a.m. and return around 6:00 p.m. This guided visit provides an opportunity to experience one of Morocco’s most impressive archaeological sites. Chellah Excursion – May 17 A half-day visit to Rabat’s Chellah archaeological site. Participants will meet in the city at 10:00 a.m. and finish around noon. This outing offers an accessible way to explore the medieval necropolis and surrounding gardens. Participants may choose either the Volubilis day trip or the Chellah visit. Please plan your travel accordingly

Overall, this is an exciting opportunity for a great location, hosted by a great team, joint with another evolutionary society, and with perspectives we seldom hear

#HBES2026 will be a joint meeting with the Cultural Evolution Society in Rabat, Morocco: CES is May 11-13, HBES is May 13-16, with one day of planned overlap. It’ll be a great chance for cross-pollination between the two evolutionary societies. Come for one conference, stay for both!

And the location of #HBES2026 will be… (drum roll)... Rabat, Morocco! From May 13-16 2026, Zach Garfield and his colleagues at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) will host the first HBES to be held in Africa. From hearing their pitches, it sounds like a great venue. See you there!
