Chaves County Manager today said that Will Cavin has removed his name from consideration for the #HD59 seat.

The Chaves County Board of Commissioners will be meeting at 9 a.m. part of their regular meeting today will be to consider and nominate someone to fill the #HD59 seat vacated by state Rep. Jared Hembree, R-Roswell.

Per the Chaves County manager, six people have applied so far to fill the #HD59. Applicants so far are:

Mark Murphy
Sarah McArthur
Tracy De La Rosa
Shay Wagner
Mack Dyer

Deadline to apply is 5 p.m.

When the seat became open last year, Hembree was one of eight candidates who applied to represent #HD59. Tracy De La Rosa, who unsuccessfully challenged Hembree in the GOP primary in June, told me last night that she is considering applying to finish out Hembree's unexpired term.

Hembree's departure comes a year after he was appointed to represent #HD59 after Greg Nibert, R-Roswell, resigned from the seat after Nibert was tapped to fill.the vacancy created when Nibert was selected to fill an open state Senate seat.
