Another #HKSA paper I loved: a Baptist University colleague on emotional stereotypes in border crossings among Chinese travellers—K-drama-villain officers, awkward “tips” in Vietnam, smooth time in #HK but awful border moments.
Exactly the emotional economy of travel behind #HabitusOfStaycations.
Speaking of raves, straight after #HKSA I’m flying to #Wonderfruit.
From HK hotels and quarantine resilience to Thai fields and festival ecology of bamboo architectures, stages, and “villages”.
Same themes: liminality, movement, and staying alive inside half-created, half-spontaneous structures.
Clear, sunny Hong Kong day—perfect for hiking—but I’m doing the even more inspirational thing: presenting my evergreen the Habitus of Staycations at #HKSA.
Very different crowd from #AAA, but it feels even more like home, especially here in Kowloon Tong, where I lived and studied years ago.
Sunday slipped by—I barely noticed. A few rules I set months ago:
1. Life=work=fun.
2. I write every day—except meditation or digital withdrawal (ideally in Nepal).
3. Everything runs through #Asana; batched.
Conference day: registered/submitted for #CIES, #CESHK, #HKSA.
Night walk. Well earned.
