I've visited #Hunter, the Instinct MI300A based supercomputer at #HLRS which leads the path to #Herder.

The hardware configuration of Herder is not disclosed yet. But it's almost certainly AMD based and the HLRS is "not looking at MI400, but at MI500 and MI600."

The second day of the MPI+X training was about exercises on #MPI + #OpenMP & overlapping communication and computation, and learning about #MPI + #accelerators.

We also got the details and a guided tour to the new #HPC system #Hunter inaugurated last week at #HLRS.

It's all about #NUMA and of course #pinning 📍📍📍

The antique #CRAY-2 (yesterday’s post) is still in the lobby, but we do the exercises on #HAWK (#HPC systems have grown over time).
