One of our many Wrens (Troglodytes troglodytes) foraging for spiders in one of our old log piles. Another reason to build #HabitatPiles wherever possible!

On #ReptileAwarenessDay, we wanted to share another of our #LyeValleyLizards (Zootoca vivipara) from earlier in the year. This one lives in one of our #HabitatPiles and was a bit camera shy!

Time for another of our #LyeValleyLizards.
This is one of Stumpy's friends. You do remember Stumpy? We introduced you about three weeks ago...

One of our volunteers spotted this Rutpela maculata longhorn beetle this week. Although the variably patterned adults are short lived, the larvae which feed on rotting wood, take 2-3 years to develop. One of the many species making use of our large #HabitatPiles.
I don't think we've mentioned our frogs (Rana temporaria) yet. We probably have hundreds across the whole site. They overwinter in our #HabitatPiles and breed in our #ponds.
📷from 22 February 2020. I checked this morning, but they're not back yet... #AnyDayNow #WorldWetlandsDay
