Disability Pride Month occurs worldwide, usually in July. Disability Pride has evolved from a day of celebration to a month-long event. It originated in the United States to commemorate the passing of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990. Disabled people make up 15% of the world's population representing all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds. Disability Pride Month celebrates people with disabilities, their identities, their culture, and their contributions to society. It also seeks to change the way people think about and define disability, to end the stigma of disability, and to promote the belief that disability is a natural part of human diversity in which people living with disabilities can celebrate and take pride. It is a chance for people with disabilities to come together and celebrate being themselves, no matter their differences. It is also a chance to raise awareness of the challenges they still face every day to be treated equally. Charcoal gray background: Represents mourning for those lost to ableism and the rage against the mistreatment of disabled people. Diagonal band: Represents the idea of "cutting across" barriers and limitations imposed by society, as well as the creativity and light within the disability community. Red stripe: Represents physical disabilities. Gold stripe: Represents neurodivergence. White stripe: Represents invisible and undiagnosed disabilities. Blue stripe: Represents emotional and psychiatric disabilities. Green stripe: Represents sensory disabilities, including those who are blind, deaf, or deaf-blind.
I thought I posted about this on here but I guess not..
Happy Disability Pride Month, you're all valid and are loved.

#happydisabilitypridemonth it's important that we support disabled people in the community.

A line drawing of a person signing "cat", the sign mimics the cat's whiskers The picture is from PREFERRED SIGNS by Texas Education Agency (1978)
A line drawing of a cat with a hand signing "cat" on top of the whiskers. Handwritten text on right of drawing reads "CAT Draw out 2 whiskers with 9-hand" Picture from SIGNING EXACT ENGLISH by Modern Signs Press (1972)
Two pictures showing Deaf actress Linda Bove signing "cat". The first picture shows how the hands start at the face and the second picture shows where the hands go away from the face (to create air whiskers) Linda is a curly brown-haired white woman wearing a light blue long sleeved shirt. Picture from SESAME STREET SIGN LANGUAGE FUN by Linda Bove (1980)
A lengthy text explanation of how to sign "cat" next to an illustration of a short-haired man signing "cat". The movement of the hands are demonstrated with two bold arrows pointing away from the face. The text in the picture: CAT Place the index fingers and thumbs of the F hands under the nose with the palms facing, then move them out sideways. This sign may also be done with the right hand only. Memory aid: Suggests a cat's whiskers. Example: I used to own a cat named Tiger. Picture from THE PERIGEE VISUAL DICTIONARY OF SIGNING (1993)
Here's four fun pictures of the sign for "CAT" from my small collection of old ASL books #HappyDisabilityPrideMonth

Good morning my friends. 🌞☕I'm currently having one of those days where I'm experiencing so many emotions simultaneously that I can't separate any answer of how I'm doing. 🤪
With that said I hope you remember to water your meat suit so that you do not wither 🫶💧
