Mouse's ears and whiskers! Can you believe it? The upper storey east window in the Great Tower at Monmouth castle is an #Ogee! A fancy one too with remnants of fine tracery and a carved finial to boot. Fancy east window... Mouse wonders. Hall or chapel? #HeidiInMonmouth #OgeeLove
Single chamfered pointed light (it is pointed, just roughly carved). C13. Lower storey, eastern elevation, Great Tower, Monmouth Castle #HeidiInMonmouth
Eastern elevation of the Great Tower, the only significant remnants of Monmouth Castle. The lower storey is pierced by single pointed lights, the upper storey devoted to a hall has a single large aperture #HeidiInMonmouth
Great Castle House, which is next to the Military Museum. Every solid inch Baroque and built end C17. The masonry, although extensively repaired, is beautiful. Being Baroque, what do you bet that window on the second storey was once a door? #AdoorableThursday #HeidiInMonmouth
And through the gate; the Memorial Gardens. Beautiful. Poignant. Ever have that thing in winter where you can't imagine what it's like being warm when you're outside? You just kind of forget what it's like. Wales. 70degrees. July. (And look at that view!) #HeidiInMonmouth
A kind of arty 'demi-gate' shot for #Thursgate and #IronworkThursday necessitated by Mouse's nemesis (through gritted teeth) the notice on the other gate (cable ties as usual). Looked inviting though so Mouse popped in #HeidiInMonmouth
With late C11 origins there is little left of Monmouth castle now, and what there is dates to much later. But Mouse do love a ruin and these remains give a good insight to the construction techniques of the period #HeidiInMonmouth
Ratio of surface area to volume for mus is mahoosive so Mouse lose heat fast and always eating (Mouse's excuse) and it's too cold to start another church scamper yet. So Mouse curating her summer holiday snaps for #MouseInMonmouthshire. July and a quick visit to Monmouth itself #HeidiInMonmouth
