Hemsley Castle’s main entrance, with a bridge crossing a dry moat. An artistic sculpture of a medieval soldier stands in the foreground.
Looking along a castle path, which includes a bridge across a secondary (inner) dry moat, leading back to Hemsley Castle’s main entrance.
Looking towards one of the remaining parts of Hemsley Castle consisting of a grand medieval building and connected tower - inwards from across the dry moat. A ruined part of another tower remains standing in the background.
A photo of the castle interior showing medieval decor consisting of wooden pillars, brick work, and museum display cabinets.
In celebration of today’s Winter Solstice, I’m continuing my theme of tourist in my own shire.
Today I took the opportunity to visit #HelmsleyCastle in #NorthYorkshire on its last opening of 2025.
There were a small number of tourists there, so I wasn’t completely alone.
