Mineral Community Organization Emerges to Represent Resident Perspectives on Planned High-Voltage Transmission Line
A new community organization is emerging in Mineral, focused on representing resident perspectives regarding a planned high-voltage transmission line.
The group, currently called Mineral Residents for Responsible Energy, intends to actively engage in the project’s review process. This includes participation in public hearings, careful examination of project-related documentation, and direct communication with both energy developers and government representatives.
The proposed transmission line route traverses multiple towns, raising concerns among landowners and potentially influencing property values. Residents have also expressed worries about the line’s aesthetic impact on the region's scenery and potential health implications.
"Our stance isn't opposition to renewable energy itself,” explained Sarah Miller, a spokesperson for the group. “However, we are concerned that the project's current design may not serve the best interests of our community. It’s vital that all viewpoints are considered and that any potential consequences are thoroughly examined."
The organization will host its inaugural public meeting next week at the Mineral Town Hall. Residents who want to learn more or contribute are welcome to attend.
