A great time was had by all who came to the Muth Museum of #HinchliffeStadium today. We started with some #NewJersey baseball history superbly and creatively presented by Ralph Carhart and then shopped for #baseball cards and memorabilia in a unique and historic setting.

There’s the obvious area of interest, yes, but also two #HinchliffeStadium connections. Babe Ruth was a spectator at Hinchliffe for Diamond Gloves boxing matches. Jim Thorpe brought his barnstorming baseball team, the Oakland Indians, to play at Hinchliffe.
An exhibit case displaying various items from the football histories of Paterson’s Eastside and Central/Kennedy High Schools. Most prominently shown are a large Eastside Ghosts banner and a jacket and varsity sweater from Central.
The Muth Museum of #HinchliffeStadium rotated the display in one of its exhibit cases to focus on the football rivalry between Paterson’s Eastside and Kennedy (formerly Central) High Schools. On November 28 the schools faced off for the 100th Annual Thanksgiving Game.

Outstanding program tonight at the #MuthMuseum of #HinchliffeStadium: a screening of “The Other Boys of Summer” followed by a panel discussion with filmmaker Lauren Meyer, Larry Doby, Jr., and Max Martinez Almenas. Great film, great stories, and great community engagement.

From Paterson to Cooperstown!
#OTD IN 1998 #LarryDoby was inducted in the #Baseball #HOF. Doby caught the eye of many while playing H.S. ball at #HinchliffeStadium. He led the #NewarkEagles to a championship in 1946 and broke the American League color barrier with the Cleveland Indians in 1947.
