Given current events there's clearly a set of countries that are consuming more oil than they receive while the Hormuz is closed to certain ships. And I'd assume there's a "day 0" for each where they run out of strategic reserves. But I feel like we don't have a great handle on that. #HormuzClosed

My understanding of the strategic purpose of capturing Kharg island would be, supposedly, to strangle the IRGC's funding source. But that feels like a pure attrition play given it's on the wrong side of the Hormuz. And in a game of attrition I would bet on Iran over the West.
