Each time I come across examples of shadow work I get mad. I swear, govt bureaucracy relies on it. Mum's in her late 70s. If I didn't fill in the gaps (the huge gaps) in navigating the welfare system what would happen to her? Shadow work exploits the consumer AND their family & friends.
