Comparing one crime against another is impossible. Sentencing is always dependent on the crime, the impact on society/individuals, the criminal history of the defendent and the risk of re-offending.
Edwards probably got about the right sentence. 6 months, suspended for 2 years.

So as far as I can see, the row about the BBC is that they didn't immediately dismiss, and stop paying the salary to, a man who was charged with an unpleasant crime. He might have been innocent. In other words, they complied with the law. I'm not sure what the row is about. #HughEdwards
